Financial Controller

About the company and the position


VIPA is a European multinational company, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, with a leading position in the global recycling and recovered material trading sectors. Its Greek subsidiary, VIPA Hellas, has the country headquarters in Thessaloniki and employs more than 120 people in Greece, achieving dynamic growth in both operations and manpower.


We are looking to recruit a Financial Controller for the company’s Finance Department. The job holder will be involved in a range of operational accounting activities.




Key Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Preparing tax statements

  • Reviewing the accuracy of the accounting books and financial statements and being responsible for accurate and timely submissions of monthly-basis

  • Supporting My Data application

  • Examining accounting registrations and financial data closely, to check for discrepancies

  • Participating in creation, implementation, and review of finance and accounting systems, policies, and procedures to ensure continuous improvement

  • Reviewing existing internal procedures and making suggestions on implementing enhanced security arrangements, in order to achieve compliance with customs requirements

  • Participating in internal audits

  • Reviewing and evaluating cost reports in the company's planning and budgeting process

  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations and laws



Qualifications & Competencies:


  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

  • Experience in Finance and Accounting with at least 3-4 years in the field of auditing at an accounting firm (Big Four)

  • Very good Tax and VAT knowledge

  • Familiarity with ERP systems

  • Very good knowledge of English, both oral and written

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (use of macro’s, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs)

  • Strong analytical skills and a very good understanding of numbers

  • Ability to perform under pressure and deadlines

  • Confidentiality and strong ethics

  • High level of professionalism and an appreciation for the confidentiality and sensitivity of information received and handled
